Marion Scrymgour currently serves at the Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Land Council, a position she was appointed to March 2019. She is the first woman to hold the CEO position at any Northern Territory land council.
Ms Scrymgour was the CEO of the Tiwi Islands Regional Council and a former member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly. In 2000, she became the first Aboriginal woman to be elected to the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly, representing the electorate of Arafura from 2001 to 2012.
Marion also served as the Deputy Chief Minister of the Northern Territory between 2007 and 2009. During that time, she made history by becoming the first Aboriginal person to serve as a head of Government in Australia, when she served as Acting Chief Minister for a period of two weeks, in January 2008.
Prior to her entrance into politics, she was the CEO of the Wurli-Wurlinjang Health Service and the first CEO of Katherine West Health Board Aboriginal Corporation.
