Peter Jacklyn

Dr. Peter Jacklyn is the Knowledge and Adoption Coordinator with the Darwin Centre for Bushfire Research at CDU.

He has experience in various aspects of tropical savannas research dating back to the late 1980s, was a science broadcaster with Radio National from 1992-1997 and was the Communications Coordinator for the Tropical Savannas CRC from 1997 – 2009. His main area of expertise is in making research outputs useable, particularly the maps and satellite data used for rural and remote fire management.

He has coordinated the development of the North Australian Fire Information (NAFI) website www.firenorth.org.au since its inception in 2002 to the point where it is now used for fire monitoring by rural and remote fire managers and fire agencies across the Australian Rangelands and is a key tool used by industry, land management and emergency services.
